5 Simple Rules I Live By

I finally had the time to sit down and pour out all my thoughts about what has been happening in my life recently. It feels good to write and let your emotions show through words. I don’t even know where to start.
So many things to be thankful for!
One of my greatest achievement last 2017 was graduating from college! An end of a new chapter in my life. College has been one heck of a roller coaster ride. I LEARNED a lot! I’ve fallen a couple of times but I made sure that I will stand up much stronger. I wanted to share some advice that I lived by during my college days, even now I still follow these simple rules.
  • Fear of the unknown? Trust the process!
Let’s face it! every one of us is afraid of what the future has in store for us. I know a lot of us are not a fan of taking risks and trusting how things will come out in the end. But I learned how to trust the process, no matter what the outcome will be. It’s a matter of how we deal with it, to turn a negative into a positive. It’s never easy, nothing is easy. Don’t lose sight of what’s in front of you because you’re scared of the uncertainty of what lies ahead.
  • Stand up for yourself
I am a firm believer that every one of us has the right to stand up and fight for what we believe in. But it’s not an excuse to bring down people who don’t agree with what you’re fighting for. Respect everyone’s opinion. Don’t think about the “what ifs”, it doesn’t matter. As long as you can express yourself without stepping on anyone else’s boundaries.
  • Don’t be afraid of doing what you LOVE or even trying. DO IT and the rest will follow.
I can prove to you that this is 100% true. My first love is (creative) writing and it will always be. If you love something even if you stopped doing it, the moment you get back to it, it’s like you never lost the connection. I don’t know if you got that one.
One of the best thing that has happened to me last year was being part of Candy Magazine as a writer/correspondent. I’ve always wanted to be able to write for a magazine, I’m glad I had to check that off of my bucket-list. Let me tell you that I tried 3 times (3 years) before getting it! It’s kind of my winning moment when I fund out that I was part of the group last year. I never let one downfall decide on what I can and cannot do. I never gave up on the things that I love, I worked hard and took every opportunity to be able to be where I am now today. The key is to TRUST IN YOURSELF MORE.
  • Treasure low key friendships
This girl has her very own fair share of friendship misfortunes. I have to say that I appreciate my close friends, even if we don’t chat or talk with each other every day. The moment we see each other again, it’s like nothing changed. They say that in times of hardships you’ll know who your true friends are, it’s true. I’m grateful for the people who consider me as their friend. And I am thankful for my friends who support me with the things I do.
  • Letting go will always be an option or it might be the best one.
I’m not only talking about romantic relationships here, anything goes. Sometimes we get too attached to people and bad habits. Even if they are not doing any good for us, we stay because we know that there’s nothing going to be better than what we have. but honey there is. The world is your paradise to enjoy. Letting go of the things that are holding you back can absolutely change your life in a snap.
This year I won’t be stressing myself to plan everything, I will just let it be.
A lot of things happened in the past that has shaped me to be who I am now today. A lot has changed but I know that it’s for the best. It has been a whirlwind of life events. It only proves that no matter what you do if it’s not the right time, it won’t happen. I always believe in this saying, “Everything will happen in God’s perfect timing.”. This has taught me to not expect too much, rather appreciate and savor every moment of my life.

  1. I agree! Lalo na dun sa treasure low-key friendships. Sobrang vinavalue ko talaga ‘yung ganung friendships lalo na ngayong adulting life kasi kahit na hindi na kayo masyadong nag-uusap, ‘yung ganung kind of friendship will understand. Tapos kapag nag-usap kayo ulit, parang kahapon lang ‘yung last time na nag-usap kayo. 🙂
