Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka His Royal Hotness, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant; hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.
Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn’t bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.
Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.
Dating a prince isn’t what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.
There’s a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they’ve traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces, and haven’t chopped anyone’s head off lately, the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.
But to Olivia, Nicholas is worth it.
Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is and, more importantly, who he wants to be: a King… or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.
My very first New Adult book review! It feels good to finally post one of these, I love reading NA and Adult in between my YA/Mystery books. One of the advantages of reading these is that I read fast which is a good thing. There’s something about them that’s gripping and makes me want to read more.
I am no stranger to Emma Chase’s books, I have read Tangled way back but didn’t have the chance to continue the series since I’m drowning on my TBR now. I wasn’t really expecting to read Royally Screwed because I haven’t heard of it before but thank god I got lost in the NA catalog in Goodreads. The thing about Emma’s writing style is that her male leads are always on point! They’re total bosses, absolute swoon-worthy and will capture your heart 100% of the time.
Nicholas is the crown prince, your Royal Hotness from Wessco. Of course, you know the drill our prince has to be wed in less than 6 months in order to be King, reminds me of The Princess Diaries 2, so you can feel his pressure. He likes the perks of being a prince but the responsibilities? Not really! Olivia is a waitress in her family’s coffee shop in NYC. Likely the two of them has the world on their shoulders the moment they met each other. The first time that they met each other made me giggle and laugh because of what happened. I know the story’s a bit cliché but hey, admit it sometimes cliché plots are our guilty pleasures. I absolutely enjoyed reading both POVs of the main characters. I liked how we get the chance to see a modern perspective towards royalties.
The thing I like about NA and Adult series is that we get the chance to know each character because in every book there’s a different story told from the side characters POV and I wouldn’t miss it for the world!
I’m going to point out the only thing that I didn’t like, that’s why I didn’t give it a full 5-star rating. It’s because of how Olivia responded every time Nicholas wants something, she wouldn’t have second thoughts about saying “yes”, “no” is an option too just saying. Playing a little hard to get won’t kill you. Nonetheless, their steamy scenes were indeed STEAMY!
Royally Screwed is one delicious fairytale-esque novel! Brilliantly written and one heck of an enjoyable movie inside my head. Looking forward on reading the rest of the series this year!
P.S. Royally Endowed was released yesterday!
