Title: When Sparks Fly
Author: Ines Bautista-Yao
Genre: Romance, Contemporary
Published August 15th 2016
Twenty-four-year-old photographer’s apprentice Regina has always felt like the plain, dull orange next to the shiny red apple that is her best friend Lana. But then she meets Ben—the first guy to ever break Lana’s heart, and the first guy to ever make Regina feel that he only has eyes for her. As Regina finds herself falling hard for Ben, she also finds herself breaking all the rules of best-friendship. Will she give up the love of her life for Lana, or will she finally realize that she deserves her share of the spotlight, too?
When Sparks Fly can be read as a standalone novel, but it is also a prequel to Ines Bautista-Yao’s other book Only A Kiss.
I received an e-arc in exchange for an honest review 🙂
“Sometimes good things don’t come to those who wait. Sometimes if all you do is sit on your butt, you get the leftovers, the dregs.”
Literally no words! When Sparks Fly is now my favorite novel by Ines.
It’s about Reg, a girl who was always a shadow of her best friend Lana. She’s the smart one while her best friend was the pretty one who would always get the guys she likes. Then comes Ben, your not so typical handsome, dashing, charming guy that will make Reg choose between #love or #friendship! OR MAYBE EVEN BOTH?!
This is the perfect read if you’re finding something light with a meaningful story. Every chapter is just full of magic, I didn’t know that this was a prequel of Only A Kiss 😀 when I saw Katie and Chris’ name I immediately felt giddy or somewhat happy, another great story by the author.
I feel bad for Reg because she’s sacrificing her own happiness for the people she loves but I’m happy that she realized in the end that it’s her happiness she should choose.
What I loved most about in this novel was the friendship between Reg & Lana, okay let’s include Ben but mostly the two girls though something happened between them, boy problem, they never let that destroy their friendship instead they accepted the truth. In Ben’s case, I love how he exerts effort in “courting” Reg, he made sure that whatever he’s doing it would be his 100%. Paulo, Reg’s boss acts as her own big brother who would give her advice/s about the things that she’s going through. Oh I almost forgot all of the characters are passionate in what they do especially in the field of photography(Paulo & Reg), cooking(Stace) and sports(Ben), it’s nice to see that everyone of them has their own talent and they are really working hard for it!
LOVED IT! ADORED IT!
Do I recommend this? Hell yes! So here’s a link for you to click so you could buy this amazing book! Advance happy reading everyone 🙂
